Skycoastin Steve at ThemeParkReview had a chance to go to closing day for Busch Gardens Williamsburg yesterday and snapped a few pictures of Verbolten, their new launched roller coaster for 2012. The track work for the indoor section has been completed and work has started on the walls of the enclosure.
Wild Eagle Construction Update
Dollywood has posted a new update to the construction blog for their new roller coaster, Wild Eagle. The track is nearing completion, with only a few more turns left. They also posted this teaser for the POV animation. The ride looks amazing, and I am extremely impressed at how many trees they have been able to keep so far. The ride should give an awesome sense of speed as you fly through the trees. Looks like Dollywood has a winner!
Log Jammer at Six Flags Magic Mountain to be Removed
Screamscape is reporting that in addition to the loss of Deja Vu, Six Flags Magic Mountain will also be removing the Log Jammer log flume ride. For those of you that didn’t get a chance to ride this ride, I’ve included a POV from CoasterView.com. If this is true, it’s removal will leave a very large opening in the front of the park for a possible future attraction. More details as they become available.
Parc Asterix 2012 Inverted Coaster Testing Video
Parc Asterix’s new B&M Inverted roller coaster has been testing and caught on video. This ride looks awesome and will hopefully be like the compact, fast, and intense B&Ms of old. Looks like a fun ride and good addition for Parc Asterix!
Leviathan Progress Report

Crews have been working hard installing the new Leviathan roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland. Currently the lift hill is about half way done, with the 3rd support structure nearing completion. They have also begun work on the bottom of the first drop, and plan to build the first drop from the bottom up until they can crown the peak. Check out some great new pictures at the Just Coasting Along Blog.
Leviathan Goes Vertical at Canada’s Wonderland
As you can see, the first pieces of track for Leviathan at Canada’s Wonderland have been put in place. This looks like the end of the very long brake run. Other pictures on their site include the massive live hill anchor footer, as well as footers that will hold supports that will interact nicely with riders of Dragon Fire.
Check out all the pictures at the Canada’s Wonderland website.

Six Flags New England Announces Goliath for 2012
Six Flags New England formally announced their plans to bring Deja Vu from Six Flags Magic Mountain to their park in 2012. The ride will be renamed Goliath but keep the current paint scheme. This makes the second year in a row that Six Flags New England has received a relocated ride. While Deja Vu is a name that makes sense, I realize that by dropping the Deja Vu moniker Six Flags has one less name to trademark. Goliath has been trademarked for awhile for the rides in Los Angeles and more recently San Antonio. Check out a video and press release below. The video is quite funny because about half way through it shows footage of Kingda Ka that has been reversed. The rest of the footage is from Six Flags Great America’s version. Continue reading
