Stinger at Dorney Park Track Complete

NewsPlusNotes is reporting that track installation has been completed for Dorney Park’s new/old ride Stinger. Stinger was moved from California’s Great America this year, and while small it went up very quickly, and should be ready for opening day 2012.

Leviathan Progress Report

Crews have been working hard installing the new Leviathan roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland. Currently the lift hill is about half way done, with the 3rd support structure nearing completion. They have also begun work on the bottom of the first drop, and plan to build the first drop from the bottom up until they can crown the peak. Dorney Park Officially Announces Stinger

Dorney Park has released their new 2012 attraction, Stinger. This inverted boomerang roller coaster is being relocated from California’s Great America. You’ll note the paint job is very similar to the new Leviathan roller coaster going in at Canada’s Wonderland. Probably got a good deal on those colors!

Carowinds Becomes Latest Cedar Fair Park to get a Windseeker

Carowinds Amusement Park announced their new 2012 attraction, Windseeker. This ride matches the Windseeker attractions that were installed this year at other Cedar Fair parks. Check out the video below:

Confirmed: First B&M Giga Coaster, Liviathan, Bound for Canada’s Wonderland

Well there you have it. From rumor to announcement in under a week, Canada’s Wonderland has confirmed their 2012 roller coaster plans. The park will be adding a 306 foot tall speed machine from Bolliger & Mabillard. The 5,486 ft ride will feature the standard 4 abreast seating and have an 80 degree first drop. First B&M Giga Coaster at Canada’s Wonderland?

Looks like the new roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland just got a lot more interesting. Not only is it a B&M, but one of the labels specify a Giga Coaster. That’s right, a Giga Coaster. Assuming that this is correct, Canada’s Wonderland will be the first park to experience B&M’s first attempt at a 300+ foot tall roller coaster. Dorney Park Purchases Additional Land

Cedar Fair has purchased 6.75 acres of land adjacent to Dorney Park in Allentown, PA. This land is intended for expansion and the deal should close in 30-60 days. Press Release after the break.

SANDUSKY, Ohio, June 9, 2011 — Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (NYSE: FUN) today announced that Lehigh County has accepted its $2.75 million bid to purchase 6.75 acres of land adjacent to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Pending approval from the Lehigh County Commissioners, this land acquisition will enable the Company to continue enhancing the guest experience at the park through the introduction of new rides and attractions, future park development and the expansion of parking facilities. The transaction is expected to close 30 to 60 days following approval by the County Commissioners.

“We are excited about the expansion and development opportunities this additional space will provide to Dorney Park, as well as the increased economic impact it will have for the county,” said Dick Kinzel, president and chief executive officer of Cedar Fair. “In addition, we appreciate the opportunity provided by the Lehigh County Commissioners to bid on this property and would like to thank them for their ongoing strong support of regional economic development and tourism. Windseeker at Kings Island Test Video

Here is a video of the new 301 foot WindSeeker attraction testing last night. These lights will be visible for a long way off and should be a really fun ride day and night.

Invertigo Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint

The folks over at News Plus Notes have posted some photos of Invertigo getting a fresh coat of paint at its new home, Dorney Park. This ride was removed from California’s Great America and is now a bright teal, somewhat similar to the old Gameboy Color. The supports are a deep blue just like Goliath at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Cedar Point to open Pink’s Hot Dogs

The hot dog to the stars will also be coming to visitors of Cedar Point this year. It is the first franchise to open East of Las Vegas.
