Skyrush December 16 Update

Keystone Thrills has yet another great Skyrush update. The first drop is going up quickly and more track has been added at the runout, as well as the track that crosses above the first drop.

Skyrush Track Installed

Skyrush track has finally been installed at Hersheypark. The first track installed is at the bottom of the first drop and it looks like they will be installing the rest of the track while simultaneously working on the lift hill. Check out the photos in the ThemeParkReview forums.

Leviathan Lift Hill Topped Off

Leviathan’s 306 foot lift hill has been crowned this week, and it looks beautiful. The new style large spine hill looks eerily under-supported and should add to the thrill of the ride. Skyrush at Hersheypark “Vertical” Construction

Keystone Thrills has a new Skyrush construction update up that shows off the first support to go vertical. It is the lift motor support, so it only sort of counts, but the crane is on site and full vertical construction should start shortly. Given the footer completion status I would expect the track to go up relatively quickly as we’ve seen with Wild Eagle this year.

Wild Eagle Construction Update

Dollywood has posted a new update to the construction blog for their new roller coaster, Wild Eagle. The track is nearing completion, with only a few more turns left. They also posted this teaser for the POV animation. The ride looks amazing, and I am extremely impressed at how many trees they have been able to keep so far. The ride should give an awesome sense of speed as you fly through the trees. Looks like Dollywood has a winner!

Leviathan Progress Report

Crews have been working hard installing the new Leviathan roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland. Currently the lift hill is about half way done, with the 3rd support structure nearing completion. They have also begun work on the bottom of the first drop, and plan to build the first drop from the bottom up until they can crown the peak. Leviathan Goes Vertical at Canada’s Wonderland

As you can see, the first pieces of track for Leviathan at Canada’s Wonderland have been put in place. This looks like the end of the very long brake run. Other pictures on their site include the massive live hill anchor footer, as well as footers that will hold supports that will interact nicely with riders of Dragon Fire.

New Hersheypark 2012 SkyRush Train Image

Here is a rendering of the train layout for the new Skyrush roller coaster going in at Hersheypark for the 2012 season. The “floorless” wing seats will indeed be off the edge of the track and should add some excitement. The outside seats are much less staggered than that of the new B&M Mega Coaster trains. I’m interested to see what the floored section looks like on the train and if riders will actually have their feet on the floor or not.
