Kings Dominion Introduces Intimidator 305

Kings Dominion announced today the addition of the United States’ 2nd giga coaster. This ride will be 305 feet tall and travel more than 90 mph. Some fans have been disappointed that it isn’t exactly what their imaginations had expected, but at $25 million we can hardly complain in this economy. It should be a great ride and as some people have said, it looks to be a “Maverick on steroids.” If this is true, it will make for one truly awesome ride. Six Flags Magic Mountain “Highly Profitable” According to Shapiro

In an interview with the LA Times, Six Flags CEO Mark Shapiro stated that Six Flags Magic Mountain has been highly profitable despite the slow economy. He also announced (confirmed actually) that Six Flags Magic Mountain will be receiving a new roller coaster, Wiggle World (by 2011), and a new water park attraction in 2010 for the chain’s 50th anniversary.

Also detailed were further international expansion plans for Six Flags. Six Flags Dubailand may be delayed up to a year from its 2012 planned opening but will be receiving 2 world class roller coasters similar to El Toro and Kingda Ka found at Six Flags Great Adventure. He also mentioned that similar ventures were on the drawing boards for South Africa and South Korea.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Update

OrlandoRocks.com has posted a few more photos of Harry Potter construction at Islands of Adventure. We still are not able to tell a lot about what is going on inside of the castle but work has finally started around the old Enchanted Oak area. I also heard a rumor that they may repaint Dueling Dragons to give them a color scheme more closely matching some of the dragons found in the Harry Potter books.

New construction photos of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter going in at Islands of Adventure have been posted by HateToFLY over at ThemeParkReview.com. The castle continues to grow as details of what is going inside still are unknown.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter to get Hogwarts Express Replica

Apparently the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will also be getting a full size (but non-working) replica of the Hogwarts Express train found in the books and the movies. The article states that the train will be a perfect replica right down to all of the rivets and the whole train will be open to visitors to touch and feel. New photos of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter have been posted to Orlando Rocks. Not a lot of new visible construction but I’m sure they have accomplished a lot in there giant coffin, err… castle.

OrlandoRocks has some new construction photos of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter uploaded for all to enjoy. Not a lot of visible progress made since the last update but I’m sure they are hard at work inside the concrete box.

Universal Studios Orlando Construction

Thanks to Orlando United for posting a new Universal Studios construction update. Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit construction is going along well, and the structure of the lift hill has been topped off. They also mentioned that the Twister attraction was not operating and may be closed permanently at some point. They also have some new photos of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it appears some new structure is going in around the castle.
